Abstract: This study examines household food insecurity and dietary patterns among rural and urban American Indian families with young children. The researchers assessed household food security and dietary intake among American Indian families participating in a larger community-based study. The study found substantial levels of household food insecurity and examined differences in food insecurity and dietary patterns between rural and urban families. Findings highlight the challenges American Indian families face in accessing adequate and nutritious food and the importance of addressing food insecurity as a factor affecting health and nutrition among American Indian children and families.
