Abstract: The article examines Indigenous food sovereignty as an approach to addressing food insecurity and improving community health. Drawing on a review of scientific literature, the authors identify seven indicators of Indigenous food sovereignty: access to resources, production, trade, food consumption, policy, community involvement, and culture. The article further identifies 25 sub-indicators that communities can use to understand and assess their food sovereignty efforts. The authors emphasize that these indicators should be adapted to the cultural values, history, geography, resources, and goals of individual Indigenous communities.
