Abstract:

To implement the Federal responsibility for the care and education of the Indian people by improving the services and facilities of Federal Indian health programs and encouraging maximum participation of Indians in such programs, and for other purposes.

EXPLANATION: This Codification of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, P.L. 94-437 Follows the Following Scheme.  

*Repealed language is crossed out.
*Language added by the Indian Health Amendments of 1992, P.L. 102573, is in bold and underlined.
*The source of changes to the original Act are identified in the margin.
*Various explanatory notes are contained in the text or in the margin sometimes followed by explanatory freestanding provisions that may be relevant to nearby sections of P.L. 94-437.
