Abstract:

In May 2016, the Action Alliance created the Transforming Communities Priority Work Group to identify ways to help communities implement effective suicide prevention programs (see participant list in Appendix 7).  This paper presents the results of their work. It describes the information sources reviewed (see appendices for detailed descriptions) and presents a set of seven key elements for comprehensive community-based suicide prevention derived from the review process.

Transforming communities to prevent suicide is one of three priority areas currently championed by the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance), the public-private partnership that supports the implementation of the National Strategy.** This priority area focuses on providing guidance to states and communities to support the implementation of community-based suicide prevention efforts
