Abstract: The 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report (AHAR) to Congress: Part 1 presents national estimates of homelessness in the United States based on the annual Point-in-Time (PIT) count conducted in January 2024. The report describes the prevalence and demographic characteristics of people experiencing homelessness, including individuals, families, veterans, youth, and people experiencing chronic homelessness. It examines trends over time and provides national, state, and local data to inform policy, resource allocation, and homelessness response efforts.
