Abstract:

Health care reform is moving through the House of Representatives at lightning speed. Americas Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 (H.R. 3200) would make major changes to the way that health insurance operates and is accessed in the country. It also makes some changes to health care delivery. Unfortunately, despite a united and passionate Indian voice from NCUIH, NCAI, and NIHB on the needs of Indian people and the Indian health care delivery system, H.R. 3200 does not include the necessary and basic provisions necessary to maintain and strengthen the unique Indian health care system.
