Abstract:

This testimony by NCUIH addresses the FY 2009 budget elimination of the Urban Indian Health Program within the Indian Health Services. The National Council of Urban Indian Health opposed, with the strongest possible terms, the elimination of the funding for the Urban Indian Health Program in FY 2009 and urged the Senate Committee to strongly support the restoration and, indeed, support a 14% budget increase to address nearly a decade of funding shortfalls.
