Urban Indian Organization National Uniform Data System Summary Report – 2022

Authors: IHS

Publication Year: May 15, 2024

Keywords: Medicaid/Medicare, Mental and Behavioral Health, Substance Use, Vaccination/Immunization, Dental, Vision, Uniform Data System

Abstract: The National Uniform Data System (UDS) reports provide a “snapshot” of program performance for the reporting calendar year. Data in the National

UDS reports are a result of validated data at the individual Urban Indian Organization (UIO) sites.

Data includes basic demographic information on the populations served and types and quantities of services provided. The following Tables indicate

key findings of the Calendar Year (CY) 2022 UDS for the entire UIO population served as well as for each of the four program types. Beginning in CY 2020, UDS reports were expanded to display telemedicine/virtual visit counts separately from the in-person visit counts. In addition, key trends are

addressed. Note: The UDS summaries report Universal data (all patients) and American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) patients only. Indian Health

Service (IHS) funding is not used for non-AI/AN patients/services. An UIO may receive funding from sources other than IHS, which support the nonAI/AN population as well as the AI/AN population.

The data from the 41 UIOs are included in the UDS Summary Report for CY 2022. The IHS Office of Urban Indian Health Programs funds four types

of programs: Full Ambulatory, Limited Ambulatory, Outreach and Referral, and Residential Treatment Center.
