Special Hearing on Eliminating Health Disparities

There are 2.4 Million American Indians in the United States. Of this Number 1.4 million or 57%, live in urban areas. In its early years the Federal Government waged war on the Indian Tribes, decimating Indian populations, uprooting Indian Communities and destroying Indian economies that were based on a close relationship with the natural world.
