Abstract:

Kathleen Sebelius, former Governor of Kansas, was the last of President Obama's nominees to be confirmed. As the country faces a potential swine flu pandemic, Congress promises to introduce a health care reform bill as early as the end of May, and the House of Representatives approves a budget including a 634 million dollar down payment on a major health care overhaul, Secretary Sebelius nomination comes not a moment too soon. NCUIH looks forward to working with Secretary Sebelius who, thanks to the hard work of Hunter Health Clinic in Wichita, understands the difficulties facing Urban Indians on a wide variety of issues from health care reform to developing an interoperable health information technology system that works for Urban Indian Health Programs
